  • Mathematical and numerical modelling of thermal-fluid processes in power engineering

Topics of interim, diploma theses and computational projects

  • Numerical model of a selected energy system or part of it (Aspen HYSYS, MATLAB, Python, MS Excel, Ansys Fluent, Ansys CFX, other software). The system can be selected by the student or proposed during the consultation.
  • Numerical simulations in collaboration with the CFD department of Framatome (Ansys Fluent).
  • Analysis of wind farm energy projects and their components.
  • Balance sheet of an energy device or system. The topic can be chosen by the student or proposed during the consultation.

Research and scientific projects

Participation in selected projects:

  • Development of a high-efficiency compact biomass-fueled cogeneration power plant (BioCHP) for distributed energy , NCBiR.
  • 200+ programme. Innovative regime change technology for 200 MW class power units, NCBiR.
  • Development of an innovative MVC (medium voltage cleaning) technology for cleaning medium voltage power equipment up to 60kV, NCBiR.
  • Development of a highly efficient technology for processing waste (including RDF) rich in polyolefins into liquid fuels and chemical components based on an innovative pre- and post-reaction system, NCBiR.
  • Development of a predictive control system for an SNCR plant to reduce NOx emissions for coal fired grate boilers, NCBiR.

Cooperation with industry

  • Carrying out research and calculations in more than 20 projects carried out in cooperation with industrial companies
  • 6-month research internship at Areva GmbH, Research and Testing Facilities Centre, Erlangen, Germany
  • 2-year internship at Zakłady Remontowe Energetyki |ZRE Katowice S.A.
